Brown should fix ferries before demanding motorways
The Auckland Ratepayers’ Alliance is calling on Mayor Wayne Brown to sort out Auckland’s ferry programme before demanding control of the city’s motorways.
The New Zealand Herald reports that AT’s $20 million hybrid ferry is circling the harbour after passenger services, burning diesel to charge its batteries because Downtown chargers are unfinished.
"Wayne Brown should sort out the ferries before demanding control of Auckland’s motorways," says the Auckland Ratepayers’ Alliance.
"An empty $20 million ferry burning diesel while going round in circles hardly inspires confidence in the Council’s ability to manage more of Auckland’s transport network."
"The Mayor needs to show leadership, demand a firm delivery timetable, and disclose what these delays are costing ratepayers."
"Before asking Wellington for more responsibility, he should fix the failures already on his doorstep."
