Petition: Stop funding property lobby groups

This week the Auckland Council’s membership of lobby group the New Zealand Property Council will be reviewed after Councillor Mike Lee put a notice of motion to the governing body to scrap the membership. Cr Lee says it is a “glaring in-your-face conflict of interest” and we agree - why should ratepayers pay for a private lobby group to be the Council's sock puppet?

In anticipation of the vote we asked the Council under freedom of information laws for the figures - just how much has it given the Property Council in the last few years.  But they're refusing to tell ratepayers until after the vote.  Sign our petition here, calling on an opening of the books and vote to cease the Council's membership.
